I knew I’d get along with these two when they told me they had a cat they named Skwisgaar, named after the world’s fastest guitarist.. from the Adult Swim cartoon Metalocalypse. They also have a membership at Revolution Brewing, where they’ve developed an incredible rating system for every beer they try. Apparently all it takes to win my heart is very specific relatability.

Their wedding had it all, and the torrential downpour didn’t stop us: Stan’s Donuts for days, games on games, light-up shoes, and possibly the most lit wedding reception I have ever attended (no joke – keep scrolling for a taste). They made whiskey during their ceremony. Armando’s mother and son dance was also surprise-shared with his incredible stepmother (who also officiated their ceremony) and his grandmother. No, I wasn’t crying behind my camera; why do you ask?

This wedding also had echoes of loss. Weddings are a celebration, but they can also be a painful reminder of those who are no longer with us. I am always so floored and honored to be able to witness this part of life and celebration of family and what it truly means to be together. So thanks, Amber and Armando, for having me along for the ride. Thanks for all of these amazing moments, and thanks for throwing the best party ever. Take note, everyone: the party bar has been raised.
