From their initial inquiry, I knew Angel and Brook were very special and that they were going to be special to me. I’ll get more into that on their wedding post (which, holy crap, I cannot wait to share with you), but can we talk about this engagement session? Brook and Angel wanted to shoot in Lincoln Park, their neighborhood’s namesake, and get cupcakes at Molly’s Cupcakes, a very special spot for them, also centrally located in their neighborhood.

Since Lincoln Park faces East, I suggested we shoot their engagement session at sunrise for the best light, and to my surprise, they agreed to my insane plan. Turns out, they were mostly interested in catching the early morning Pokemon, but that’s a conviction I will never argue with. As with all sunrise sessions, it was 1000% worth it. First off, the whole area was mostly deserted with the exception of a few uncomfortably overzealous athletes, so we had the whole place to ourselves. We watched the red sun rise over Lake Michigan, birds flying and diving about, and snuggled up in the orange light. They packed coffee, fresh orange juice, and green tea sandwiches that were so good I’m still dreaming about them. They switched into their Chicago Red Stars gear – their favorite soccer team; all femme badasses – and we ate our cupcakes and pointed at dogs. And yeah, we caught Pokemon.

Dare you to not be inspired by their love, even a little bit. Dare you.
