When I first met Nora and Cody, I knew I would do anything to get to be their wedding photographer. After months of emailing, we finally met when they flew in from California when it was as cold as December gets in Illinois. Once we’d had more questionably strong mojitos than we probably should have and they’d shared every amazing story about how they fell in love, I was quickly realizing I was probably more in love with them than they were with one another (I’m only kidding, but really, I love them a whole fucking lot). Her, a comedy writer, and him, a game designer at Blizzard, spoke to two of my great loves. Plus, they’d met and fallen in love where a lot of amazing Chicago couples fall in love: taking improv classes together at the Second City.
So once it was time for their engagement session and we ended up at the dive bar across the street from Second City where they’d spent many late nights quickly falling in love, with its eyebrow-raising wall art and cheap drinks, I knew we’d settled into something pretty amazing.
I’m stoked to share their South Side backyard wedding with y’all – because I have lots more to share about these two souls – but in the meantime, enjoy our engagement session shenanigans. We managed to barely dodge the rainstorm of the season, but I’ve got a good feeling that had we been caught and drenched, they’d still be laughing like there’s no tomorrow.
Oh and P.S., Cody and Nora, you guys are going to owe me BIG time a few years down the line when I need Botox from these wrinkles you’ve caused. Please wait for my bill.
