Listen, I’m not a wordsmith. I’ve never claimed to be. Some words come easier than others, and only sometimes. This is not one of those times.
Angel and Brook aside, where do you even start? Their non-traditional bridal party was not made up of ‘bridesmaids’ or ‘maid of honor’s: instead, they were the ‘Best Gal Pals’, who are all ‘Made of Honor’. They had a fully inclusive and accessible celebration, with a fully bilingual ceremony and reception, to honor where they come from and all of their guests from near and far. Angel and Brook made the choice to show up and be raw and vulnerable and I’m so so glad they did. They didn’t hide their emotions; they let their friends dry their tears when they could no longer dry their own. They let themselves be held by their community.
I could go on and on, but I won’t do one more damn thing to compromise the integrity, heart, and breadth of this story. I’m going to let these people do the talking for me.
